A gentle goodbye
at home

Pet euthanasia at home in Brisbane — peaceful, unhurried and on your terms.

When the time comes, your pet can say goodbye in the place they know best — on their own bed, in your arms, surrounded by the people and sounds of home. We come to you in the evening, unhurried and on your terms, so the last moments are calm for them and for you.

Why home

Why families choose home

There’s no car trip and no waiting room, with its unfamiliar smells and sounds. Your pet stays relaxed, and your family can grieve privately, in your own way. Other pets can be present too, which can help them understand.

Afterwards

Afterwards: caring for your pet

With your permission, your pet travels with us. They’re identified and tagged in front of you before we leave, and held overnight in refrigerated care until the cremation provider collects the next morning. If your pet’s goodbye falls over a weekend, we care for them for up to three days at no charge, giving you time to decide on aftercare.

Common questions

Common questions

How do I know when it’s time?

It’s one of the hardest questions. Our free NAQOLS app can help you track your pet’s quality of life over a few days, and our guidance on decision making walks you through it. You’re also welcome to talk it through with us.

Can we be with our pet?

Yes, and most families are. Some prefer to say goodbye before the final step, and that’s okay too.

Will it hurt?

Your pet is sedated first, so they’re deeply asleep and comfortable before anything else happens.

Can children be present?

That’s a family decision. Many children cope better when they understand what’s happening, and we’re happy to guide you on how to explain it.

Is this an emergency service?

No. If your pet is suddenly in severe distress, contact your nearest emergency vet, such as AES Underwood (07 3423 1888).
